USCGC Sequoia

US Coast Guard Juniper-class buoy tenders

The Ship

Sequoia is one of sixteen Juniper-class buoy tenders built and commissioned from 1996-2004. She was launched on August 23, 2003 on the Menominee River by Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC) in Marinette, Wisconsin. She replaced the USCGC Sassafras (WLB-401) as the only buoy tender in the Marianas.

The Model

The Juniper Class buoy tender is 28 inches long at 1/96 scale. This model was created with a fiberglass hull, Sintra and plastic structure, for strength and lightness to make it easy to carry, and with 3D printed parts such as the main crane, radars, and winches. I also added a few people in the well-deck to add scale.

This model is SOLD

The USS Juniper-class models is a small, easy to handle model that has a lot of detail and looks great on a desk or trade show. The r/c model has a working bow thruster and lights for the bridge and buoy deck.
